Let's go!

Do you fancy a cycling and yoga week on the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada mountains in Spain?

This week long Cycling and Yoga holiday offers fully guided cycles and Yoga for Cyclists classes all from our base, Velez de Benaudalla in Southern Spain. The town is nestled on the foothills of the  mountains and only a few kilometers to the Costa Tropical, it is the ideal location for your Cycling and Yoga Week.

“Sinead’s Yoga For Cyclists Class always leaves me feeling refreshed and ready to tackle more climbs in the mountains!” David K, guest 2023 and 2024

Why Andalusia?

  1. The Roads – The roads are exceptionally quiet, we’re based in the countryside and once we leave our base there’s not too many other road users to contend with.
  2. The Climbs – We are based in valley surrounded by mountains, consequently, there’s no shortage of climbs to take on.
  3. The Weather -The area is blessed with 320 days of sunshine per year
  4. Variety – The variety in Sierra Nevada is endless, with an array of routes, climbs and descents to choose from.
  5. The Location – We’re located in the small traditional Spanish village of Velez de Benaudalla. As it’s off the tourist map you do not have to expect tourist prices.

“I loved my Cycling and Yoga holiday in Spain. We cycled mountains in the morning and had Yoga for Cyclists in the afternoons. Yoga was fantastic, really helped me recover. Sinead was an outstanding Yoga teacher who helped me through my first yoga experience.  I am already looking forward to do it again next year.” Rasmus, guest 2024

To participate in our camp, a good level of cycling fitness is required. Ideally, your weekly long spin is 3-4 hours long, or 70-100km. The area where we are based is mountainous with lots of challenging climbs. Therefore, most days you will be climbing and descending. However, if you’re used to tackling long rides on the weekends you will enjoy the challenge ahead. It is a cycling holiday after all so a little effort is required! For 2021, we will break the groups into the following categories:

  • Advanced – this group will typically cycle around 5 hours per day with at least one major climb each day at a fairly steady pace. Most days will be around 100 kilometres with over 2,000m of climbing.
  • Intermediate – a slightly easier pace than the advanced but would tackle a similar route each day to the advanced group. Most days will be around 70 to 100 kilometres with around 1,000m to 2,000m of climbing each day.
  • Leisure – as the name suggests this group will take it’s time visiting some of the best cafes and places for lunch that the area has to offer and we will of course throw in a few spectacular climbs along the way.

It’s our aim to cater to our guests needs. This may mean increasing or decreasing the length of the rides to suit the needs/capabilities of our guests. If you have any concerns regarding your suitability please feel free to contact us. The main aim of the week is to go away in better shape than you arrived, challenged, invigorated and have had some fun whilst enjoying the warm sunshine of Southern Europe.
Please be advised that you may be asked to change group.

Do you have friend or loved one who would like to come but isn’t a cyclist? No problem at all. They are welcome to come to the Yoga Classes and hang out with us! While the cycles are during the day, evenings are free time so why not go out and explore the area together, enjoy nice meals and some local wine. There is also a free day on the itinerary to spend together. Prices for non cyclists on request.

Check out flight comparison site for the best deals on flights from your nearest airport to Malaga International Airport. Flights are currently approximately €200 return from London and Dublin.

If you would prefer to hire a bike rather than bring your own then we have a selection of rental bikes from Specialized and BMC,

Dinner will be organized dinner in either a local restaurant or we will take you to another town for a bit of variety.

Accommodation is on a self catering basis and we will provide each apartment with a welcome hamper with breakfast staples. There is a café beside the bike workshop that does breakfast too.

The beaches of the Costa Tropical and the larger town of Motril are only 10kms. Local taxis are relatively inexpensive and a return trip can be arranged if requested.

While nothing is guaranteed the temperatures for this time of year are typically very pleasant. The same week 2019 had daily highs of 23 degrees Celsius. Click here for more information.
